Best Foot Forward

If your get up and go has got up and gone

Don’t dwell forever on whatever went on

Live for the moment, spend every minute

Enjoying your life and everything in it

Count every blessing for time will not wait

Until you’re feeling better – it might be too late

Get help if you need it, acknowledge your pain

It’s time to get back on your feet once again

Let your light shine, show your face to the world

You have every reason to smile and be proud

Dust yourself down, blow the cobwebs away

Put your best foot forward and embrace this new day.

Poems by Marcia – Don’t Be Sad

There’s a sadness in your heart

What are you going to do?

Are you going to sit and let

It cloak itself around you?

No-one likes the feeling

Of being low and down

Much better to be positive

Smile, my friend, don’t frown

Face up to your troubles

Look them in the eye

Although it might seem daunting

You really have to try

Remember how it feels to be happy

When you radiate warmth and love

Knowing you’re glowing feels fantastic

So shine and rise above

For only when you take some action

Can you change the way that you feel

Eradicate all that is negative

And notice how quickly you heal.

Poems by Marcia – The Story of You

Life is a book to which we hold the key

It needn’t be such a mystery

We chose to write a page a day

As we go about things in our own way

No two books are ever the same

They are personal to us and will always remain

Unique in their content, fresh in their style

Full of events that made life worthwhile

So what is your story – how would it read?

Is it boring and sad or full of intrigue?

Do you live for the moment or let things pass by?

Are you happy with how you go about life?

At the end of your days when you look back

Will you be accomplished on your chosen path?

Or will you fall short and not make the grade

For the route that you took and decisions you made?

Never blame anyone else in your life

For the way it’s turned out, whether wrong or right

Live it on your terms, be true to yourself

A best-selling novel to grace the shelf.

Poems by Marcia – A Gentle Shake

I’m here to give you a gentle shake

To wake you up inside

Light the fires of all your dreams

Renew your lust for life

Like a howling wind or a bird that sings

I’ll reach right through to your core

Be in your head as you lie in bed

Motivate you once more

Get you back upon your horse again

To hold the reins of life

Steer, control, uplift your soul

I’ll be right by your side

Journey on, life is fun

It starts with just one step

Follow your nose, go with the flow

Have no time for regrets

Listen within, let your instinct direct

For it knows you more than yourself

Trust how you feel to know what is real

Your inner voice happy to help

Each day is a chance to start a new life

Decide what you want – make it happen!

Your dreams are only a thought away

So turn your thoughts to action.

Poems by Marcia – Human Nature

So you’ve had a bad day

You’re angry and tired

Fed up of people

The cheats and the liars

Sick to your back teeth

Of gossip and scandal

You’ve had your fill

All you can handle

You want to shut the door

And hide

From the evil world

That lurks outside

Pretend for a moment

That you don’t exist

Would anyone notice?

Would you be missed?

It’s human nature

To feel this way

The dips in life

Have a role to play

They teach us endurance

And how to survive

To deal with others

On the path of life

So if you think

Today has been a mess

Tell yourself

It’s just been a test

To make you appreciate

All that is good

It’s just life’s way of checking

That you’ve understood.

Poems by Marcia – Time to Shine

Hey you, looking in the mirror!

Hold your head upright

Smile at the person staring back at you

They are awesome – they are alright

Look into their eyes for a moment

Hold their gaze, don’t be shy; be strong

The person staring back has a presence

They are sure in life; they belong

They don’t consider themselves a misfit

Charisma just pours from their veins

The person staring back has the confidence

To hold and steer life’s reins

Take time to admire that reflection

Love what you see; be content

If the person staring back isn’t happy

Ask yourself where they went

Pick up from the point where you lost them

Take a new path, you will be fine

The person staring back has a duty

To let everyone see how they shine

Poems by Marcia – Bruises

I’ve fought some wars

I bear the scars

Each wound a story to tell

A lesson learned

Or fingers burned

Life always turns out well

Good or bad

Happy or sad

Experiences are what shape us

It’s how we respond

To what comes along

That’s going to make or break us

We have a choice

To use our voice

And let ourselves be heard

Allow people to see

We are unique

Through deeds as well as words

Whatever your battle

With which you wrestle

No-one wins or loses

But we do all grow

Whether friend or foe

And learn from all life’s bruises.
